Pro-Lock Cable Seals - Zinc Cast Cable Seals for Valve Lockout

Originally designed for use in aggressive offshore environments, Pro-lock is tough and extremely versatile. Pro-lock is locked on to the cable using the dedicated Pro-lock Operating Tool. It can be used with or without padlocks. These can be supplied “Keyed to differ”, “Keyed Alike” or “Combination Type”.

Use the standard 1.5M looped cable, supplied to secure an object up to 1.3M from your fixed anchoring point

Each Pro-lock is supplied with multi-stranded galvanized lightweight aircraft cable, PVC coated for increased visibility. This cable is supplied cut to lengths of 1.5M, and looped at one end for added versatility. Extra rolls of 50M can be supplied to cut if required.

(Note: Heavy duty Angular type cutters are required to cut the cable.)

If the equipment to be protected does not already have a suitable place to attach the cable, or it is not practical to drill a 4mm hole, to thread the cable through, we can supply two additional securing devices.

1. Anchorpoint (Brass, Nickel Plated)
Supplied with; two screws to enable the device to be fixed to a PC VGA Port, two self tapping and wood screws for any other surface.
Once the cable is passed through the device, the screws cannot be accessed.

2. Anchorplate (polyprop) secured with super strong double sided adhesive tape

Complete System

1. Use the Pro-lock with the PVC coated steel wire provided, cut to the required length.

2. Fit protective end caps to wire to prevent possible snagging on clothing etc.

3. If utilising Anchor points ensure surfaces are clean, and free of oil and grease.

4. Peel covering from base of anchor point and apply pressure to fix where required.
Note: 50% strength will be achieved within 20 minutes, 90% after 24 hours and 100% after 72 hours

5. Secure the object to be locked with the wire.(Refere to Note above before threading wire through anchor points)

6. Unscrew the top of the Pro-lock far enough to enable introduction of the wire from the sides.

7. Slot the wire into the lock (No threading of wire is necessary)

8. Screw down the top, hand tight.

9. Slide the Pro-lock to the optimum position (much like the knot of a neck tie)

10. Hard tighten using the Operating Tool provided..

11. For added security fit padlock through the pro-lock device if required.

SURFACE PREPARATION

To obtain maximum results, surfaces must be clean, dry and free from oil and grease Use cleaning solvents such as Starbond Surface Cleaner or Propan-2-ol Ensure that the Solvent's use is in accordance with manufacturer's recommended guidelines and heed precautionary warnings. Bond strength is dependent upon the degree of adhesive to surface contact developed. Firm application pressure develops better adhesive contact and thus bond strength is improved . After application, bond strength will increase as the adhesive builds with surface

50% strength will be achieved within 20 minutes, 90% after 24 hours and 100% after 72 hours

Bond strength may be accelerated by exposing bond to higher temperatures (e g 70°C for 1 hour)

APPLICATION STEPS
1 Clean surface with appropriate cleaner
2 Wipe the surface dry
3 Remove liner, make up the joint and apply pressure to the bond

NOTES:
Ideal Temperature application range is 21°C to 38°C
Minimum Temperatures 0°C - Do not apply to surfaces below this temperature as adhesive becomes too firm to adhere properly. However, once applied at recommended temperature low temperature holding is generally satisfactory
Most porous surfaces e g concrete, wood, will require sealing to provide a unified surface. Some materials e.g. copper, brass, plasticised vinyl may require priming or coating to prevent interaction between adhesive and substrate
If Bonding to Glass in a high humidity environment use an appropriate primer to ensure a long term bond
